Parkview Baptist School announced Monday that Jay Mayet has been named head football coach.
Mayet will transition from his role as interim head football coach, which he has held since Kenny Guillot stepped down from the position in January.
"Coach Mayet brings to this position the most tenured work within the PBS football program. Having his longevity and stability will be beneficial to the program and student athletes to provide a seamless transition while maintaining our quality football program," commented Don Mayes, PBS superintendent.
Mayet has served on the PBS staff for the past 17 years. During this time, he has served as athletic trainer, director of sports medicine, strength trainer and defensive coordinator. Mayet has served as defensive coordinator for the past 15 years and helped lead our football team to four state championships.
Mayet's hometown is Cutoff, La., and he attended South Lafourche High School. After graduation, Mayet went on to play Division I college football at LSU and graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Exercise Science.
"It is an honor to continue to serve PBS. I am looking forward to the opportunity of leading the program and maintaining the structure that has been in place for the past 14 years," stated Mayet.
