Three days after an investigator found the body of 13-year old Ka'shaad Hurts in Union Springs, Hurts' grandmother spoke for the first time to WSFA 12 News.

Brenda Benton says her grandson was a gifted orator.

"He knew the Bible backwards and foward and from the beginning to the end," Benton said.

Benton is still in shock over the sudden death of her grandson. Rumors are flying around, but Benton says she still doesn't know the truth.

WSFA 12 News has learned the Department of Forensics completed its autopsy on Hurts Monday. The agency isn't releasing any details for now and Union Springs police chief Clarence Wheeler isn't saying much either.

"He was a happy child and I know he came from a loving home," Benton said.

The teenager was last seen alive leaving the Union Springs Recreation Center after a round of basketball Thursday night.

Hurts never made it home to his aunt's home less than a quarter of a mile away.

An investigator found Hurts' body Friday afternoon very close to South Highlands Middle School where the teen attended.

"I can't eat and I can't sleep," Benton said.

While the investigation into Hurts' death continues, funeral plans have already been made for Hurts. He'll be buried Saturday with his funeral beginning at 1 p.m. at Lowfield Baptist Church on Highway 110 in Union Springs.
