Anthony Davis makes most of All-Star opportunity

He may have played just ten minutes, but Pelicans forward Anthony Davis made the most of his All-Star opportunity with 10 points, two steals and a rebound in Sunday night's NBA showcase.

"It was fun," Davis said. "It was a fun experience for me. First All-Star appearance, in my second year, so I wasn't going in expecting to play a lot of minutes. I just wanted to be there and enjoy it all."

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George added, "I saw him, you know giving us a show of what we're gonna see for a long time. He's a special player."

Davis entered the game in the second quarter, and said nerves took over for the first time since playing in the collegiate national championship at Kentucky.

"I didn't think I was going to be that nervous," Davis said. "They told don't shoot a jumper on my first shot. That's why I hesitated for like three seconds, I didn't shoot it. But I said I was wide open, so I gotta shoot it."

The jumper was good, and Davis started to find a groove, teaming up with former New Orleans and current L.A. Clippers point guard Chris Paul on back-to-back alley-oops.

"I told him just to play like you play, and he did," Paul said. "It was a lot of fun because AD's a great player."

Davis added, "It was great, CP3 has great timing. Great court vision. Great awareness, so I just tried to get out and run the open floor and I know he was going to find me."

And after a very successful All-Star weekend here in New Orleans, for the Pelicans, it's time to get back to work. Currently six games under .500 at 23-29, Davis said it's time to get as many wins as possible during the second half of the season.

"Gotta step it up, and guys are doing that," Davis said. "We got a lot of guys hurt, so our energy level has to rise, during the second half. Coming out better, coming out of halftime and try to push a lead."

The Pelicans will host the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
