Zachary High School announced Monday the selection of Coach David Brewerton as the new Bronco head football coach.
"We are very excited about having David Brewerton as our head football coach. Coach Brewerton has all the qualities we look for in a coach, character, passion, leadership, integrity and a record of success. He has a track record of building a football program that develops young men into champions on and off the field, energizes the student body, and involves the entire community," said Zachary Principal Wes Watts.
Brewerton has served as head football coach and athletic director at Livonia High School for the last 8 years.
His previous coaching experiences include time at Jesuit High
School, Catholic High of Pointe Coupee, Redemptorist and Catholic High School
of Baton Rouge.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join the Zachary community as their new Head Football Coach. It is apparent that moving forward in a positive direction is of the utmost importance to the school system and community alike. It is a great opportunity for my family to get back closer to the greater Baton Rouge area as well as the chance to coach in a place that is committed to excellence," Brewerton said of the decision.
"I am so excited for Coach Brewerton, the Zachary football team and the entire community. Coach Brewerton brings the experience and passion that will take this program to the next level. We look forward to an exciting future.
Coach Brewerton replaces Neil Weiner who earlier this year, announced he will be leaving to accept a position at Dunham High School in the Fall.
