NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A plane traveling fromAva, Missouri to Muscle Shoals, Alabama crashed in Chester County on CarlMcGill Drive Friday night.

The man and wife onboardthe single-engine Cessna 172 aircraft sustained minor injuries when it crashedin a muddy field.

The pilot managed to get out of the plane and walk to a nearby home for help.

His wife was taken to ahospital and is expected to recover.

The pilot told the localsheriff's department he had zero visibility due to bad weather.

The Federal AviationAdministration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.

The NTSB will determineprobable cause.
