BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge and Abermarle will join forces to make someone a happy home.
The Eighth Annual Albemarle Youth Build will kick off this Saturday, Feb. 15 starting at 8 a.m. Construction will continue on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m until the dedication on Sunday, March 16. The home will be built at 1300 Wall Street in the Highland Road subdivision.
The Albemarle Youth Build is sponsored by the Albemarle Corporation. Students and teachers from three area high schools will build the home alongside volunteers from Albemarle and future homeowner Shaketa London. The schools include Catholic High School, St. Joseph's Academy and Episcopal High.
"The Albemarle Youth Build is a great example of how partnerships between different groups within our community can have very positive results," said Lynn Clark, executive director for Habitat for Humanity. "
