BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Metro Council members rejected a measure Wednesday night that would alter how the city of Baton Rouge deals with sharing tax revenue from unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish.
Several of them voiced concerns the measure was designed to counter the movement to incorporate the city of St. George.
After the measure was voted down, Baton Rouge CAO William Daniel had some strong words for the council.
"When y'all are talking about all this and y'all aren't willing to vote on items that don't do anything to city-parish government except strengthen what we're trying to do for the citizens of the parish, I think you ought to keep that in mind," Daniel said.
He further warned the council's lack of action to amend the service agreement could compromise the city's high bond rating.
