Thibodaux police arrest couple for using counterfeit money

THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) -

Two people have been arrested after an anonymous tip alerted Thibodaux police they were using counterfeit money.

Joshua Ray Hyatt of Livingston was arrested for monetary instrument abuse, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer, and possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $3,500 bond, along with an additional hold from Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole.

Michelle Bourgeois of Thibodaux was arrested for possession of marijuana. She is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $1,000 bond.

Police were alerted around 9:30 a.m. on Monday Feb. 10 that the two tried to use counterfeit money and they were staying at a motel in the 1200 Block of Canal Boulevard.

Police later learned that Hyatt had printed the money. Officials recovered printing materials, a firearm, and marijuana from the scene. They were arrested at the scene.
