BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The owners of Tony's Seafood, one of the go-to places for seafood in the Baton Rouge area, said reports the business could possibly be moving to the high-traffic Perkins Overpass are not true.

Tony's released the following statement Monday morning:

Contrary to local reports, Tony's Seafood Market and Deli has no current plans to open a new location in Baton Rouge. While we are honored by the outpouring of community interest in a second location, our Plank Road operations are thriving. We have invested in state-of-the-art facilities and equipment over the past five years to grow our business, and maintain the level of quality Baton Rouge has come to expect from our seafood and our family.

Tony's Seafood and Louisiana Fish Fry Products are proud to be a part of the fabric of Baton Rouge. As one of the region's largest seafood markets, we welcome our neighbors from across the metro area to our Plank Road location each day. Our focus is firmly on the roots we have planted in north Baton Rouge and our commitment to provide the Capitol Region with the finest quality seafood, fish fry, mixes, and condiments.

The rumor mill started buzzing after a print report said Tony's Seafood would open a second location on Perkins Road at the old Kean's cleaners.
