BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Another man has been arrested Sunday afternoon for his connection to the multiple-shooting-death of Marvin Thomas who perished from his injuries on S. 15th Street late last week.

Police say 18-year-old Corey Scott is the suspect accused of shooting and killing Thomas; however, authorities say that just before the shooting, there was another man who started a fight with Thomas while attempting to rob him of his cell phone as he exited Terrace Grocery.

According to the probable cause report, police say a surveillance video showed Harold Retana, 18, trying to take something from Thomas's pants pocket as Thomas struggled to keep the object away from Retana.

Authorities later discovered that the object was an iPhone. Shortly after the fight began, shots were fired which killed Thomas.

Officials later found Retana and brought him in for questioning. They said he admitted to "sneaking"  or unexpectedly assaulting the victim by punching him in the face.

Retana was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on charges of attempted simple robbery, inciting a felony, and simple battery. His bond is $30,000.

Scott was arrested earlier Sunday morning at his home on charges of 2nd degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Authorities say he is expected to be booked into the EBR Parish Prison later today.
