BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A highschool student has landed in hot water after she took a picture with a corpse and posted it on Instagram.

The young woman is from Clements High School in Limestone County. She was on a class field trip touring the anatomy lab at UAB when she pulled a cadaver's cover back and snapped the photo.

UAB allows students, mainly high school seniors, to view the lab for educational purposes. However, strict guidelines are outlined at the beginning.

A UAB spokesperson released the following statement on the incident:

"No phones are allowed, no photos are to be taken, and faces of cadavers are covered. A student was made explicitly aware of these policies and breached them. This kind of disrespect is unacceptable and very disappointing. Tours of the human anatomy lab have been suspended for the semester. We will review our processes to ensure an incident like this does not happen again."

Once Limestone county school officials were made aware of the photo, they removed it from Instagram. The superintendent says the student is being made to apologize to UAB faculty and staff.
