BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A caretaker is accused of cruelty after she was caught on tape, allegedly mistreating her bedridden client by throwing him on the bed and spraying him with disinfectant.

It happened on Tuesday, January 14th between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Ruthie Chesterfield Dorgan, 58, was hired as a private caretaker to work at the home of the 75-year-old victim, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, had a recent back surgery, and is unable to walk.

According to the probable cause report, Dorgan and the victim exchanged heated words which led to Dorgan forcibly jerking him out of his wheelchair and throwing the top half of his body onto the bed.

Then, Dorgan reportedly swung the victim's his legs on the bed afterwards.

The report discloses that after the victim was on the bed, Dorgan yanked his clothing to his ankles and sprayed him with disinfectant instead of properly bathing him.

When the victim's wife arrived soon after, she noticed something was wrong. The wife question Dorgan, who told her that the victim had placed her in a headlock and knocked off her wig. The victim's wife later checked the surveillance tape, and reportedly found things had gone quite differently. She, then, notified authorities.

After officials investigated the incident and looked at the surveillance tape, police say they could not find where in the video Dorgan was placed in a headlock and her wig removed.

The report states that once questioned, Dorgan admitted to jerking the victim out of his wheelchair by force, throwing him on the bed, and also admitted to covering the victim in "body disinfectant".

Dorgan admitted that she was angry but she doesn't remember why, the report revealed.

She was arrested and charged with cruelty to the infirm, and then taken to the EBR Parish Prison where she was later booked.  Her bond was set at $5,000.
