BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators say a house was intentionally set on fire Thursday morning to cover up a crime scene.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said it was called out to a fire on Sycamore Street around 9 a.m. when firefighters arrived, the master bedroom of the house was engulfed in flames.

Officials say the fire was quickly contained to one bedroom, but the rest of the home received smoke and heat damage.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department investigators and Baton Rouge Police say the home was burglarized before the fire was set.

Firefighters said it took them just five minutes to get the flames under control.

Red Cross was called to the scene to help the residents.
