Baton Rouge Walls Project opens for business

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The city of Baton Rouge has a new space for creative minds.

The Walls Project Art & Design Center is officially open for business on Florida Blvd., and it couldn't have come at a better time.

The executive director of the Baton Rouge Walls Projects Casey Phillips told our news crew that 25 projects have already committed for this year, and they hope to expand beyond downtown. Phillips said it's a way to bring a different group together to stimulate community growth and creativity.

"The value of public art-," said Phillips, "that's ultimately what we are hoping to access with this. It's an interactive space not only of our muralists and all of our installation artisans but with the business community and the Baton Rouge community as a whole to be able to have an accessible space to be able to interact with us."

The grand opening for the design center will be on February 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
