BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Gardere Initiative opens new permanent office.
The initiative which includes several area churches and businesses working to improve the area has been in existence since 2006, but this is the first permanent office for organizers right in the heart of the community they hope to serve.
They'll be able to provide free tutoring, Bible study, parenting classes and much more.
"It's like God, 'this is the area, and I want to direct all of my resources and attention and love to shower this area so that it can be transformed," says Caulette Jackson-Guillard, president of the organization. "There is hope here. There is hope in Gardere area. There will be other lawyers, other doctors, nurses, ministers, preachers---that's going to come out of this area."
Outside the office, there is a little free library for those that don't have transportation to an area library.
