BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Louisiana is among a group of states that is considering legalizing or expanding Internet gambling.
That according to a study done by a group called the Gambling Compliance. The group says at least 10 states are taking a serious look at the issue. The others include California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
So far, only New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware allow internet gambling.
The study also finds that there's little chance of creating a national law to regulate internet poker. It predicts that opponents of online gambling would block it in Congress.
In California, one of the largest potential markets, Indian tribes are trying to agree on how to legalize Internet poker. Nevada may also consider expanding online bets beyond poker.
