PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

Prattville High School's stand out running back Kamryn Pettway has been honing his skills on the gridiron since the age of five and it has paid off. On Wednesday, he'll sign on to play football at Auburn University.

"Growing up, I watched Auburn football and I knew it was the place I wanted to be. It's been a lot of hard work and dedication and a lot of help from my parents and coaches also," Pettway told WSFA. "I'm looking forward to becoming a better player all around and becoming stronger and much faster."

Kamryn's football coach, Chad Anderson, says there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to get talented athletes to commit to a school. Recruiters look at what they can do on the field as well their grades, home life, how they excel in the weight room and how much further they can be developed. As for Pettway, his coach says he met every requirement on the list.

"With his size and talents and abilities that he's been given, he's been able to maximize those things and had several offers and chose Auburn. I think we've seen just a little bit of what he can do here in high school and I know Coach Gus Malzan and his coaching staff will do a great job furthering that," Anderson said.

Another star player making headlines is Auburn High School's Rashaan Evans. On Wednesday morning, he'll choose between Auburn, Alabama or UCLA. Over the weekend, the Tide and the Tigers made one last push, attending a birthday party for Evans' grandfather. As the buzz about him builds, Auburn High's principal Rick Rainer says the 5-star linebacker has stayed humble and low key.

"He has handled himself very well. I told him yesterday that I was very proud of him and I hope that this decision would be one that he made and that he would be happy with 20 years from now. I just wished him the very best," Rainer told WSFA. "He is the most highly recruited athlete in the state, no doubt, probably in the nation. Rashaan is a fine young man. He is low key and has not made a big splash about all of this. Of course, everybody else has."

Auburn High School has a total of 11 athletes signing with colleges and universities Wednesday while Prattville has six student athletes signing on to play at the college level- Wednesday a big day for many student athletes across the area who set themselves apart from their competitors.
