NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Officials at City Park say vandals stole five sport utility vehicles last weekend and drove them into nearby lagoons.
City Park spokesman John Hopper says it happened sometime late Saturday night into Sunday morning off Diagonal Drive between Zachary Taylor and Harrison Avenue.
Hopper says the suspects played "demolition derby" causing more than $50,000 in damage.
The five stolen vehicles include three John Deere Gators and two brand-new Kubotas.
Two people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle flipped Sunday afternoon. Officials reported it happened on Spanish Town Road near Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge around 1:30 p.m.
