BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said they believe speed was a factor in a deadly single-vehicle crash in Baton Rouge Tuesday morning.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the wreck happened at the intersection South Choctaw Drive and South Flannery Road around 8:15 a.m.
Officers said the driver of a Ford F-150 lost control in a curve on Choctaw approaching Flannery and drove into a parking lot in the northwest corner of the intersection. Police say because he was speeding, the vehicle began sliding sideways across the parking lot where the truck hit a ditch embankment and flipped.
According to investigators, the driver was partially ejected and died at the scene of the crash.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Johnny Kemp of Greenwell Springs.
Baton Rouge Police say speed, along with the use of a cell phone, are factors in this crash.
