DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a man in Denham Springs last week and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he is awaiting deportation back to Mexico.

According to officials with ICE, 34-year-old Patricio Guerro-Gonzales was convicted of domestic violence in 2003 while living in Colorado. ICE agents say Guerro-Gonzales was in the United States illegally at that time. He was deported back to Mexico in 2004.

ICE officials say at some point within the past 10 years, Guerro-Gonzales made his way back to the United States and set up residence in the 12000 block of Buddy Ellis Road in Denham Springs.

Because he was previously deported and because of his criminal conviction, he was targeted by Immigration officials and was arrested January 30, 2014.
