CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has ruled that two sisters who died in a Cleveland apartment fire died from smoke inhalation.

The deaths have now officially been ruled homicides, even though the Cleveland Homicide Unit has been investigating for weeks.

Glacia Ramsey, 7, and her younger sister, Peaches Christburg, 2, were killed in the Kipling Avenue fire last December.

Police tell 19 Action News the fire was started by a person who broke into the apartment and locked the children's babysitter in a closet. The babysitter, 55, was able to escape the fire unharmed.

Police are asking that anyone with information call the Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463 or the Homicide Unit at 216-252-7463 or text your tip to 274637.
