Waste Management suspends collection services due to snow storm

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Due to winter weather conditions and road closures, Waste Management will suspend all commercial garbage collection services in the Baton Rouge area, as well as residential collection services in Zachary and St. Francisville and in Livingston, Tangipahoa and West Feliciana parishes, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Woodside, Reliable and North landfills will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be open during normal operating hours on Thursday, Jan. 30; Friday, Jan. 31; Saturday, Feb. 1; and Sunday, Feb. 2.

In Livingston and Tangipahoa parishes, regularly-scheduled Tuesday routes will be collected Thursday, Jan. 30. Regularly scheduled Wednesday routes will be collected Friday, Jan. 31; Thursday routes on Saturday, Feb. 1; and Friday routes on Sunday, Feb. 2. In St. Francisville and Zachary, regularly-scheduled Tuesday routes will be collected Thursday, Jan. 30.

In West Feliciana Parish, regularly-scheduled Tuesday routes will be completed Friday, Jan. 31. The Friday route will also be picked up at that time. The regularly-scheduled Wednesday route will be collected Saturday, Feb. 1.

"Waste Management is in frequent communication with local officials and has informed them of our plans to temporarily stop collection services, due to icy road conditions. We have suspended all Waste Management collection service in the Baton Rouge area for Tuesday and Wednesday as an added safety precaution and thank our valued customers for their patience and cooperation," said Kenny Abboud, district manager, Waste Management of Baton Rouge.
