EMS will be fully staffed, but ask for your patience

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Paramedics are asking you to practice a little patience in the coming days. Emergency responders have to take alternate routes to avoid road closures, just like everyone else.

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Mike Chutz says paramedics work closely with the Louisiana Department of Transportation to get live updates on road closures so they can plan ahead.

As for having enough workers on hand, Chutz says EMS will be fully staffed around the clock.

"We're making sure all spare vehicles are up and running in case something happens, telling medics to be prepared to stay for an unknown time, as we do in hurricanes," said Chutz.

Chutz adds because of icy weather conditions, paramedics may not be able to take you to your hospital of choice, but they will make sure you get to a facility that treats emergencies.
