NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - Police said dash cam video of a traffic stop helped to identify a woman accused of trying to run over an officer late Saturday night.

The New Orleans Police Department reported Latoya Alexis, 35, of Algiers, is wanted for attempted murder of a police officer, resisting arrest and reckless operation.

NOPD said the video shows a driver speed off during a traffic stop with the police officer still hanging on. The officer eventually fell and suffered minor injuries.

Police said the patrol officer happened upon an SUV with a woman slumped over the steering wheel at the corner of General Meyer Avenue and Pace Boulevard in New Orleans around 11:45 p.m.

Investigators said the woman tried to get out through the passenger side, but the officer grabbed her arm to stop her. They added that's when she drove off with the officer still holding her arm.

The officer was taken to the hospital and released after receiving treatment for injuries to his forehead and body. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said Alexis was driving a silver or light green Honda Pilot.
