THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Two teens, along with the mother of one of them, were arrested after a drive-by shooting and police chase Monday night. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The Thibodaux Police Department said Dreonta Robertson, 18, of Thibodaux, and an unidentified juvenile, were arrested on gun charges. The shooting happened on Eagle Drive near Plantation Road around 8:30 p.m.
According to Police Chief Scott Silverii, his officers reported seeing shots being fired from a vehicle driven by Robertson and chased the car until it stopped near Bobby Street. Police said they later found the stolen gun believed to be used in the shooting.
Investigators reported the gun, which had been stolen out of Assumption Parish, was fished out of a canal.
Roberton was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of assault by drive-by shooting, aggravated flight from an officer and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. His bond was set at $85,000.
The unidentified juvenile faces charges of assault by drive-by shooting, illegal possession of a stolen firearm and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
Robertson's mom, Lateisha Robertson, 33, was arrested for disturbing the peace. She was later released on a misdemeanor summons.
The shooting remains under investigation.
