BERWICK, LA (WAFB) - A woman suspected of driving drunk and crashing Saturday afternoon remains behind bars on DWI and several other charges.
Kaci Giroir, 25, of Berwick, is accused of having a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit when the vehicle she was driving collided with another on Southeast Boulevard near Canal Road in Bayou Vista around 1 p.m. No information was provided about injuries in the crash.
She was booked into the St. Mary Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
Driving while intoxicated
Driving under suspension
Expired driver's license (warrant from Morgan City Court)
Expired license plate (warrant from Morgan City Court)
Careless operation (warrant from Morgan City Court)
Contempt of court (warrant from Morgan City Court)
Probation violation (warrant from Morgan City Court)
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash and allegedly smelled alcohol on Giroir's breath. Investigators said she "performed poorly on the field sobriety test" and blew a 0.217 percent BAC on the breath test.
Bond has not been set.
