BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Livingston man is now facing charges, including vehicular homicide, for a single car crash that resulted in a fatality last December.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, 36-year-old Kerry Kendrick and his passenger Jessica Clifford were heading southbound on Satsuma Road on December 1, 2013. Kendrick's vehicle went off the road and eventually crashed into an embankment. Both he and Clifford were transported to a local hospital where Clifford later died from her injuries.
Sheriff Ard's office launched an investigation that revealed Kendrick had been speeding. A blood sample was taken from Kendrick, and it was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for testing. When the results came back, authorities booked Kendrick on Tuesday, January 14th for several charges.
Kendrick has been charged with Vehicular Homicide, DWI- 3rd Offense, and Reckless Operation. The LPSO reports that he is no longer being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center after posting a $50,000 bond.
