Recovery of semi caught on tree stumps on I-12 W causes heavy delays

LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) -

According to the Louisiana DOTD, crews trying to pull a semi caught on some tree stumps on I-12 near Livingston, LA is causing heavy delays for westbound motorists.

Congestion is from Mile Marker 24 to Mile Marker 19 (near Livingston).

The tractor trailer went off the road Friday morning. Crews had to off-load the trailer before they could try and remove the truck. The trailer, according to officials, is caught on some tree stumps. Crews are having to use chainsaws to get the trailer free.

Once crews are finished with the chainsaws, the westbound lanes of I-12 will be closed for 15 or 20 minutes.

It is hopeful that the truck will be cleared from the scene in the next couple of hours.

DOTD suggests motorists use US 190W as alternate route.
