BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Two men and a teenage girl were arrested Thursday morning in connection with an ongoing multi-agency drug investigation.
"This is another example of the Delta Narcotics Task Force is working hard to clean up the drug problem in Baton Rouge,"Chief Mike Knapps, Baker Police Department, said.
A raid was conducted at two homes early Thursday morning in Baker. One raid happened at a home on Tecumseh Street, and the other happened on Alliquippa Street.
The first raid happened on Tecumseh Street. the EBRSO SWAT team served the active warrant. During the search, officers found crack cocaine, a digital scale, marijuana and a black semi-automatic Bersa firearm.
Kelvin Ronelle Johnson, Jr., 35, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II (crack cocaine), felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fugitive from justice.
According to police, Johnson said the drugs, scale and gun were his and that he had been selling crack cocaine for more than six months to pay his child support bills. During the investigation it was revealed that he was wanted by the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office for third offense possession of marijuana.
The second raid happened around 9:30 a.m. on Alliquippa Street. The EBRSO Swat team served a search warrant and found Tyree Cooper and Darylnika Lee inside the home. Detectives also found a metal digital scale, approximately 3 grams of suspected crack cocaine hidden inside of a VCR tape player. A second bag of suspected crack cocaine was found hidden inside of a latex glove. Detectives also found a bag of what was believed to be marijuana.
Tyree Cooper, 29, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Darylnika Lee, 17, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II (crack cocaine).
All three were taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
