MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio State Rep. Peter Beck, who is scheduled to stand trial in April on 16 felony counts, announced Monday he's running for re-election.

A former mayor of Mason and member of Mason City Council, Beck was appointed to the Ohio House in 2009.

"Over the past several years, the legislature has made great strides to improve Ohio's economy and create a more competitive job market," said Beck, R-Mason, in a statement.

"However, we have more work to be done to get us to where we need to be. I hope to have the opportunity to continue serving our communities in the Statehouse and to work on these important issues."

Beck along with certified public accountant John Fussner were formally charged in July for their alleged activities involving Ohio software company Christopher Technologies, LLC or CTech.

Authorities say Fussner was the president and Beck was the chief financial officer of CTech.

Beck is accused of misleading investors about the company's financial status and using their money for personal gain. According to the indictment, the victims lost approximately $200,000.

Beck's jury trial in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court is scheduled to start April 7.
