Livingston Parish president, council members try to work out differences

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A budget squabble in Livingston Parish has the president and the parish council pointing the finger at each other. The council adopted a spending plan last month but the budget is left in limbo because of unsettled issues.

The president and the council members met tonight to see if they can resolve the matter.

Parish President Layton Ricks said, "They did vote tonight to override the veto, they do want to sit down with me - I'm willing to sit down with them on anything"

Councilman Ricky Goff expressed his desires. "My hope is that we can bring a proposed budget at the next council meeting for adoption and it's not that far off - it really isn't."

Both Parish President Ricks and the council members seemed willing to work together.
