Jindal announces economic development mission to Japan, South Korea,Taiwan

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal announced Wednesday at the Baton Rouge Press Club an economic development mission to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan to cultivate more foreign-direct investment opportunities and increased trade between Louisiana and key Asian markets.

Governor Jindal says he will depart Saturday for the overseas mission and will be gone a week.

Jindal says he and Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret will meet with representatives of 10 companies while in Asia, along with senior government officials and others to discuss expanding business ties between Louisiana and the countries.

According to Governor Jindal, most of the companies he is meeting with are large, global manufacturers with the equivalent of billions of dollars in annual sales.

On the list for meetings are corporate executives in the energy, chemical and manufacturing industries. Jindal says that includes companies already doing business in Louisiana and companies that the state is actively recruiting for projects in the state.
