ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - Zachary Mayor David Amrhein and City of Zachary officials are urging residents to conserve their gas consumption by lowering the thermostat to 65 degrees for the next couple of days.
In a news release sent by city officials, they say the record breaking cold weather is causing high demand in gas pipelines, resulting in low pressure throughout the City of Zachary.
The lowering of the thermostat to 65 degrees will ease the demand, officials state in the release.
Officials say the City of Zachary Department of Public Works is on 24-hour standby and is monitoring the situation and recommends winterizing your home by wrapping any exposed pipes.
Should you need assistance, contact the City of Zachary at 225 654-0201.
You are also urged to check on your neighbors and family members who may be susceptible to cold weather conditions, such as the elderly or disabled.
