KSLA News 12 Guest Editorial: Jan. 6th-Quality Education

I am Dr. Theodis Lamar Goree, and I consider it both an honor and a privilege to serve as the superintendent of Caddo Parish Public Schools.

We all must be committed to providing our students with the highest quality education resulting in students graduate college ready and prepared to pursue their wildest dreams. In this quest, we must embrace the triangular relationship between the school, the family and the community. The school must embrace its responsibility of providing students with a rigorous education, in a safe environment, that prepares them to compete in the 21st century.

The family must embrace its responsibility of providing students with home training that supports a controlled school environment, being actively involved in the schools and providing the students with as much academic support as possible.

Lastly, the community must embrace its responsibility to support the schools whenever possible.

I firmly believe if we all work together, we will make a difference!

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
