Information from The Dunham School:

BATON ROUGE, LA - The Dunham School is pleased to announce that Coach Neil Weiner has accepted the position of Director of Football Operations. The Zachary High School football coach will join the Dunham staff full-time beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.

Weiner takes the reins of the Tiger football program from Guy Mistretta, who resigned the position in December. As the search committee evaluated potential coaching candidates, Weiner's name repeatedly rose to the top of the list.  Conversations with local coaches and others convinced Dunham President Bobby Welch, Headmaster Steve Eagleton and Athletic Administrator Donna Pixley that Weiner would be a good fit for the school.

"Neil seems to be the perfect fit for Dunham.  He is a proven entity when it comes to football, and his family has a long history with Dunham.  His dad [Dale Weiner] was a football coach for one of our predecessor schools, so they know our mission well.  We are proud to have their family join ours," Welch said.

Pixley added, "We are excited about the future of Dunham football under Neil's leadership and look forward to him adding his own flair to the program."

Weiner welcomes the opportunity to lead the Tiger football program. "As a football coach, I am excited not only about the vision that Dunham's leadership has for the school and the football program, but also their commitment to excellence," Weiner said.  "I look forward to working with the coaches and a great group of young men to become the best team possible."

During his five years as Head Coach at Zachary, Weiner took his team to the playoffs the last four years, including the 2013 season when the Broncos reached the quarterfinals of the 5A State Championship for the first time in school history, earning Weiner

He guided the Broncos to a district championship in 2010 and was named 5A-4A Metro Coach of the Year.

"My family has had a tremendous experience being part of the Zachary community during the past five years. We now feel led that God wants us to be part of The Dunham School community. We are really looking forward to having our children all together on one campus," Weiner said.
