Police chase teen suspects after reports of residential burglary

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office began chasing three juvenile suspects on foot after reports of a residential burglary Monday afternoon.

Initial reports said the three suspects were between the ages of 12 and 15 years old, however, one of the suspects has now been identified as 18-year-old Khamal Ross of Baton Rouge.

EBRSO officials say at Noon a homeowner woke up to sounds in the house in the 600 block of Fall Creek. The door appeared to be kicked in and the victim told deputies that the suspects were trying to burglarize the house. The suspects ran, and nothing appeared to be missing from the home.

K-9 dogs and a search helicopter were called out to help in the search for the suspects. The search was centered around the intersection of Burbank Drive and Bluebonnet Blvd. in Baton Rouge. Deputies say a perimeter was set up.

Sources say one suspect was caught near the Family Dollar store on Burbank Dr. He was reportedly wearing pajama pants. Another suspect was captured a short time later, reports say in Fountain, Bayou.

The other arrested suspect is 14 years old. The name of the 14 year old will not be released due to his age.

EBRSO decided to stop the search for the third suspect after deputies learned who he was. A warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Ross and the 14-year-old have been charged with simple burglary, damage to property and attempted theft of a firearm. The third suspect is still wanted.
