TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

Tempe authorities say they have arrested a second gunman involved in a shootout at Arizona Mills mall in Tempe in December.

Tempe police said Perren Robertson, Jr., 20, was arrested Friday in the 6400 block of W. McDowell Road in Phoenix.

Police arrested Voyee Smith, 20, on Dec. 28, 2013 - the night of the shooting - after police found him at his girlfriend's home in Tempe.

Tempe police spokesman Sgt. Mike Pooley said it was just before 6 p.m. on the Saturday night when Smith got involved in some type of altercation with another group at the mall located near Mill Avenue and Priest Drive in Tempe.

During the fight Smith and Robertson allegedly pulled guns and began firing at each other. At least six shots rang out, officers said.

One of the bullets hit Smith's girlfriend in the arm during the exchange of gunfire, Pooley said.

As Smith fled the area in his car he hit another vehicle before leaving the area.

Police caught up to Smith after his girlfriend notified authorities that she had been shot. Smith was located at his girlfriend's residence along with his firearm, Pooley said.

"This area was crowded with multiple pedestrians coming and going from the entrance to the mall and to their vehicles," Pooley said.

Smith is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits, endangerment and duty on striking an unattended vehicle.

Robertson is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangerment.
