Robbers take 30 cartons of cigarettes during Christmas Eve robbery

PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - West Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies are searching for two men who allegedly robbed a gas station on Christmas Eve morning.

Officials say the incident happened at the Valero Service Station on South Lobdell Hwy. at roughly 8:20 a.m. We're told two men walked into the store without making a purchase, then one came back minutes later armed with gun.

The man took roughly 30 cartons of cigarettes and ran out the store. We're told that a cashier followed the suspect and witnessed him getting into a silver Mazda 6 with a temporary tag. The vehicle was then seen leaving the area on I-10 eastbound.

Investigators believe the second suspect who walked into the store prior to the robbery was the driver of the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male, slim build approximately 110 – 130 lbs, 5'6" to 5'8", bob faded hair style, wearing dark denim jeans.

No description was provided for the suspected driver of the vehicle.
