Prison guard accused of smuggling drugs in bra

ANGOLA, LA (WAFB) -

A prison guard at the Louisiana State Penitentiary is behind bars for Christmas after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs and other items into the prison in her bra.

Warden Burl Cain said LeAngela Handy, 42, of St. Francisville, a correctional officer at Angola, was caught Tuesday with what he called a drug store in her bra.

Cain said Handy had crystal meth, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, Lortab and Xanex in her possession. She allegedly also had a cell phone and several cigars in the bra.

She was booked into the West Feliciana Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

Introduction of contraband into a penal institution

Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics

Possession of Schedule II narcotics (2 counts)

Bond was set at $25,000. She remained locked up as of Wednesday afternoon.
