BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Christmas Day is one of the holiest days of the year for many religions and countless services throughout the area Wednesday gave people a chance to come together and celebrate.
At St. Joseph Cathedral in down town Baton Rouge, there were several Christmas Day masses. Baton Rouge Bishop Robert Muench presided over the 10 a.m. mass.
For the people in attendance, services are a way to give thanks and commemorate the true meaning of Christmas.
"It's the celebration of the Lord's birthday and it's one of the holiest days besides Good Friday time," said Daniel Gauthier.
"I firmly believe that family is the source and foundation of any society and I can't think of a better place to spend my Christmas morning than celebrating the birth of Christ," added Mary Ellen Davros.
