Body of Central man found in bayou

Search and rescue authorities along with volunteers located the body of a Central man who went missing Saturday near a bayou in Iberia Parish.

According to a report from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), officials recovered the body of 37-year-old Brent J. LeBlanc from the Bayou Pigeon.

Authorities received a call Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. that an empty boat  was floating adrift about a mile southwest from the Bayou Pigeon landing.  The LDWF teamed up with Assumption Parish deputies, searching into the late night, but the severe weather made the have to call off the search until first light Sunday morning.

LaBlanc was found without a floatation device. His body has been turned over to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.

The LDWF is investigating the boating crash. Officials say it is currently unknown how LeBlanc got ejected from the boat. Investigators report that they do not suspect alcohol is a factor.
