Man carrying infant son arrested for selling crack cocaine

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WWL) - A New Orleans man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly dealing crack cocaine with his 1-year-old son in his arms, authorities said.

Thirty-year old Louis J. Harris was observed by narcotics investigators around 1:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of LaSalle selling seven rocks of crack cocaine while he held the child in his arms, narcotics investigators said Wednesday at the Sixth District's weekly meeting of ranking officers.

"He had the baby in one hand and he was facilitating the deal with the other," said NOPD Lt. Frank Young.

Harris was booked into the Orleans Parish Jail on charges of distribution of crack cocaine and cruelty to a juvenile, and his bond was set at $30,000. The child was released into the custody of a family member, Young said.
