FRANKLINTON, LA (WAFB) - A Franklinton man has been arrested after a body was found in a burning trailer and 2 people were shot.
Christopher Dillon, 20, allegedly shot his neighbor in the arm and then ran home to his trailer. The victim called Franklinton police to the scene, and authorities went to Dillon's residence.
According to the police report, the police identified themselves before making entrance through the cracked open door of the trailer. Authorities say Dillon then fired a shot that went through a door and struck an officer in the left forearm. The bullet became lodged in the officer's ballistic vest.
Dillon ran back down a narrow hall of the residence, and after claiming multiple times that he surrendered, he set fire to the trailer. Afterwards, he attempted to escape the burning trailer by jumping out of a window and eventually he surrendered, according to Louisiana State Police spokesperson Greg Merchand.
The trailer was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, a body of a female was discovered on the floor along with a Ruger 9mm. The identity of the woman and the cause of her death are pending until an autopsy is completed.
Dillon is being held at the Washington Parish Jail on charges of armed robbery, attempted 1st degree murder, aggravated arson, and 2 counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
The victim with the arm injury and the Franklinton officer were both treated and released.
