NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - Many family, friends and fans of famed Louisiana artist George Rodrigue are in attendance at his funeral mass in New Orleans Thursday morning.
It is taking place at St. Louis Cathedral just steps from his French Quarter gallery. It began around 10:15 a.m.
Rodrigue, best known for his 'Blue Dog' paintings, died Saturday after battling cancer.
Former Gov. Kathleen Blanco will deliver a eulogy.
Gov. Bobby Jindal was also scheduled to speak about Rodrigue's life and legacy.
Rodrigue was 69 years old.
