Officials secure more than $100M to expand I-49 Corridor

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana officials have locked in $113 million to expand the Interstate 49 Corridor.

The money will be used to improve I-49 from Shreveport to the Arkansas state line and from Lafayette to New Orleans.

State officials said the expansion would serve as an evacuation route and will ease traffic along I-10.

The money comes from the sale of tax-exempt property bonds.
