OVERTIME: Badger boys soccer pulls de'ja vu on Buena

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Six days ago the Tucson Badgers boys soccer team went down to Sierra Vista and beat the Buena Colts 4-0.

When the Colts came to the Old Pueblo Wednesday night they unfortunately got the same result. The Badgers scored two quick goals at the outset of the second half to turn a 1-zip lead into an identical four-nil win.

Tucson, ranked 2nd in the state (Chandler) and 7th nationally improved it's record to 14-0-1 on the season. Buena is winless in nine matches.

Colts goalie Max Monnard did an admiral job in the first half considering this game was played for the most part almost entirely in Colts territory. Carlos Vargas' header in the 7th minute was all Tucson could manage.

Any thought the Colts had of making this a contest evaporated eight minutes into the second half. Luis Gonzalez scored on a perfect pass from Badgers striker Julian Gaona to make it 2-nil and than just two minutes later, Gaona added a penalty kick to put the Badgers up three goals.

Thomas Sampson provided Tucson's final tally of the night as what few shots the Colts had on goal were easily defended by Emilio Anaya.
