BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Metro Airport is putting the finishing touches on an expanded rotunda in an effort to increase comfort and security for travelers.
The TSA checkpoint has been relocated there, giving more elbow room all around. The new expansion also includes a new gift shop, restrooms, and will eventually update restaurant options.
Spokesperson Jim Caldwell says the new area allows some breathing room and a welcoming view for travelers.
"This is the new expanded rotunda area, which is on the secure side, gives our passengers a nice spacious area to wait for their flights," he said. "We have a beautiful view of the tarmac. We've had a lot of compliments about it," Caldwell adds.
A formal grand opening of the expansion is expected in the near future.
