BRFD investigates cause of daycare fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire at a daycare early Wednesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said it happened at Lil' People Daycare on North Sherwood Forest Drive around 3 a.m.

Fire investigators said they have not ruled out any cause. It is believed no one was inside the building when the fire started.

Curt Monte with BRFD reported an upstairs closet was on fire when firemen arrived on the scene and it spread to a nearby bathroom before they could get it under control.

He added the rest of the building had minimal damage, but that damage was enough for authorities to request Entergy to disconnect the power from the building.

It is unknown if the business had to close.
