BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man accused of robbing a fast-food restaurant at gunpoint appeared in court Monday for a bond reduction hearing.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Daniel Hobdy, 29, walked into the Subway on Burbank Drive near the LSU campus with a handgun on October 2 and demanded a sandwich. According to investigators, the workers prepared the sandwich and the suspect ran out of the store.

Hobdy was arrested a short time later and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of armed robbery. His bond was set at $50,000.

According to court records, Hobdy is a veteran of the Iraq War and was diagnosed with PTSD and depression after leaving the military in 2008.

Reports indicate Hobdy has no prior felony arrests or convictions nor any arrests for violent crimes.

The court documents also stated his family has located inpatient facilities specializing in PTSD and/or depression and secured outpatient psychiatric treatment through the VA once he has successfully completed an inpatient program.

According to the reports, Hobdy's family members have been unable to raise the money to pay the current bond amount.

Hobdy entered a plea of not guilty during Monday's hearing. His attorney filed a motion to reduce his bond. He is still in Parish Prison.
