BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators are working to figure out exactly what caused a house to go up in flames early Monday morning, but they do not suspect foul play.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department said a home in the 4400 block of Byron Avenue caught fire around 3:45 a.m.
Firefighters said the two people who live at the home safely made it out before crews made it to the scene.
Firefighters said the kitchen was engulfed in flames when they arrived and the fire spread to the living room and attic above before they could get it under control.
Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Red Cross was contacted to offer assistance to the family.
